Train trip from Spain (Madrid) to London

Hi, has anyone had success in booking a trip from Madrid to London. I have found Railbookers Australia have the perfect trip but it is from London to Madrid. It is a 7 night trip including stop overs in Bordeaux, San Sebastion, Pamplona and ending in Madrid ($1575.00) this includes 7 nights accommodation.

Many thanks

Shirley

That sounds like an all-inclusive package.

You can travel independently and book train-only travel, and many do. It is up to you whether you do the whole lot in just one day (which is just about possible), or break it up into a series of journeys, which you would book each one separately.

Have a look at 'The Man in Seat 61' for information on train travel in Europe. I would recommend you avoid Australian travel agents who are mostly clueless about rail travel in Europe and will try and sell you expensive passes, without telling you that you will need to arrange reservations yourself, at extra cost, when you get to Europe.

Just book Barcelona to London at www.loco2.com, looking for the 09:20 departure by TGV to Paris and Eurostar onwards to London.

Then add a Madrid-Barcelona ticket the previous day, also at www.loco2.com

That's the simplest, at any rate, though there are many other options.

Railbookers in Australia specialises in train trips, but obviously they charge you a premium for their services. As advised above, you can book most connections yourself, other options are going by the Atlantic coast route, ie. via Irun/Hendaye, and then onwards to Paris.
