Honeymoon in December with a budget.

My husband and I recently got married earlier this year and we are planning our honeymoon in December, with a budget of not exceeding 10,000 dollars USD and a month max to spend. We would like our honeymoon to include staying at an overwater bungalow on an island (Tahiti/Bora bora? or the maldives??) for a few days, a few days in Japan, and we're also interested in spending a few days in Europe or if not, Australia or New Zealand (because some online research suggested that Europe is too cold at that time of year). So we need some advice and recommendations. Any would be greatly appreciated! <3

Hi Annie, you could book travel to NZ, flying Air New Zealand, with a stopover in the Cook Islands. In which case book a through fare to Aitutaki island which has semi o/w bungalows. Currency in the Cook Islands is NZ dollars and the lagoon that surrounds the Aitutaki Lagoon Resort is gorgeous. But also the costs in the Cook Islands are considerably less than Fr. Polynesia.

December is a lovely time of year to visit NZ. Since it's getting into peak season at that time of year, you will need to plan an itinerary and look at booking accommodation; especially in the centres where the major attractions are based. Suggest you rent a vehicle and self-tour the country; as opposed to taking organised tours. Use some domestic flights where needed, yet with nearly a month to explore you can comfortably reach the South Island without having to fly any more than you need to.

Spend at least a week in the Cook Islands exploring Rarotonga (capital island), Aitutaki and possibly Atiu (less well known, remote location, with pristine beaches). Daily flights from Rarotonga to Auckland.

All the best.

I would not bother spending a few days in Europe, its winter and will be adverse weather. Leave Europe for a separate trip in the summer.
