Going from Ashland, KY to Vancouver, WA

My small family is currently planning a move from Ashland, KY to Vancouver, WA. We have taken enough time off to be able to spend a month getting there if we wanted to. So time isn't our issue. I'm looking for some good stops along the way. Any recommendations? Thanks in advance :)

Hi

When do you leave Kentucky? Do you have any particular interests? My idea of a "good stop" might bore you to tears.

Yes, tell us when and your interests. It would be helpful to know age of your children.

Hi,

Good suggestions above.

You could daily monitor the weather and the road conditions on the route if travelling in the winter.

If weather permitting, you could consider Badlands NP, Mt Rushmore, Grand Tetons NP, and Yellowstone NP.

Two of the Parks above...Grand Teton and Yellowstone would not be recommended with winter approaching. Many roads closed and facilities limited.

With a month you can take the Southern Route and avoid much of the winter driving hassles.

1 Ashland to Bardstown (Bourbon Trail)

2. Bardstown to Nashville/Grand Smoky National Park

3. New Orleans

4. Kemah, Texas and Johnson Space Center

5. San Antonio

6. Big Bend National Park

7. Carlsbad Caverns National Park

8. Carlsbad National Park to Albuquerque

9. Albuquerque to Flagstaff (Sunset Crater, Wupatki), Grand Canyon National Park

10. Grand Canyon National Park to Kingman (Route 66 Museum, Mohave Museum) and then on to Lake Havasu.

11. Lake Havasu to Joshua Tree National Park to Palm Springs.

12. Palm Springs to LA

13 Pismo Beach and Central California

14. Central California to Monterey/Carmel

15. San Francisco

16. Wine Country

17. Redwoods (Staying in Trinidad)

18. Brookings, Oregon

19. Drive to Cannon Beach, Seaside, Astoria

20. Drive to Vancouver, Washington

which leaves you about 10 days to have more time in interim places or more time in single places along the route.

Do keep an eye on weather etc. but since its a southern and coastal route less likelihood of snow.

Whatever route you take enjoy your trip/move.

Thank you so much for the replies :)

We will be leaving in January or March. It all depends on one thing we got going on. We should know soon.

The southern route looks like it'd be fun. I appreciate the suggestions :)
