I 80 or I 70.

Post on Utah forum and ask about driving conditions on both interstates. I do know I 80 in WY which you will not use is very windy.

In CO you will have to abide by very strict CO traction law.

US 50 through Nevada then 79 to glenwoodsorings then down to aspen.

Could go 89 over sierras then cut down to 50.

Keep to major highways ... That will be better serviced in poor weather ... I -80 to Salt lake City. There, south a bit on the I-15 to the 6... Spanish Fork to Green River ... The I-70 then will carry you to Glenwood Springs ... Be aware, your tires must meet the Colorado State law for Winter traction ... Happy trails ...

They have also posted in the CO forum where I suggested that they fly into Aspen. Then there isn't any problem with snowy winter driving. But if they do then, yes.

I agree that you should stick to the major highways and plan on flexible dates. You may not make it on the day you have written down if the roads are closed due to snow. You have to get over the mountains to Reno and that can be a challenge in and of itself. You can check the road conditions in CA at http://www.dot.ca.gov/ and Nevada road conditions at https://www.nevadadot.com/ and the CO ones at cotrip.org Be sure your tires have the M/S symbol on the sidewall since that is required in CO during the traction period. Check out the rules at https:/…TractionLaw
