There's very little to see and do in Northern Louisiana. You can visit Vicksburg and Natchez in Mississippi for some history, but you will have to go further south into Louisiana to reach anything of interest.

Outside New Iberia is the Tabasco factory and the Avery Island Jungle Gardens. You can do swamp tours near Breaux Bridge. St. Francisville, north of Baton Rouge, may also be of interest.

You may want to post in the Louisiana forum for more ideas.

We have been wondering around in western Louisiana and also have been to Nacogdoches with it restored town center. There's not that much in Western Louisiona from a tourist point of view but all those tiny byways were nice to drive albeit slow. LA 171 is a nice drive. It goes all the way to Lake Charles. From Lake Charles you can make a loop to the coast and back and explore Creole Nature Trail

In the Nola direction from Lafayette you can drive Old Spanish Trail for a while.
