Road Trip along the PCH San Francisco to Los Angeles

Doing a road trip along PCH Starting at San Francisco and going to Los Angeles in a few weeks.

Was wondering what are the major sights along the highway.

We have two days for the trip and are stopping for the night in Cambria.

Would like to not wander to far from the highway and would like to see the natural sights and some of the light houses.

Any suggestions

Hi

This question has been asked so many times and lots of info on the California forum. Maybe read this first:

With 2 days Cambria makes a good stop in between.

Hi

Here is another article from the Top Questions on the California state forum page: tripadvisor.com/Travel-g28926-c182762 If you have specific questions about your drive, I recommend posting on that forum.

Hi Shanley,

The articles Tet and PNWF gave to you are good overviews of the route.

With respect to your comment, "Would like to not wander to far from the highway," that's pretty hard to do. CA 1 is pretty much the only road between Carmel and Cambria, so it's next to impossible to wander off it. In fact, once you're on it, there's only one road that will take you over the coastal mountains inland and back into the faster US 101. (That road, the Nacimiento-Ferguson Road, is not for the faint of heart with its hairpin turns and steep cliffs at the edge of the road.)

One other bit of advice... Sunset is currently around 4:45 PM, so get an early start to your day when you drive down the coast. It's best not to drive any portion of it at night, mainly because you'll miss out on what you came to see.

Safe travels.

Two days is not much time, but here's a thread that may prove helpful, especially the nested links to other threads.

Depending upon your interests, in the Malibu area, check out the Adamson House and the Getty Villa. Both are right off the highway.

Good planning!

Seems the OP already asked in other treads as well.
