From Ft worth, texas to San Diego, California

Help!!! Trying to plan a 2 week road trip from Ft worth to San Diego in July. This trip will include 2 adults and 3 children ages 12, 11, and 9. We would like take the most scenic route, with lots of sightseeing opportunities. What are the best and worst places for the kids to enjoy. Thanks so much for any help!!!!

Is this a one way road trip, or are you also driving back to Fort Worth? If so, is that included in the two week time frame? Does the two weeks include any time in San Diego itself?

Places to see would be Carlsbad Caverns National Park, White Sands National Monument (don't miss this one), Saguara National Park East section just east of Tucson, the Pima Air and Space Museum and possibly the Boneyard, Saguaro NP West Section, Mission San Xavier del Bac, Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum, perhaps Old Tucson Studios (cheesy but the kids might enjoy it), then drive on to San Diego.

You could also think about a route that would include the Grand Canyon, depending on how the kids do in the car for long drives, and whether you can find, at this late date for this summer, anywhere to stay inside GCNP (www.grandcanyonlodges.com) or in Tusayan, Arizona, the small gateway town at the southern entrance to the park.

Do some research, check driving times and distances, and see what seems feasible for your family's travel style.
