Car Rental - One Way fees ?? San Francisco / Las Vegas.

Hi

Looking at hiring a car in San Francisco ( Downtown somewhere I'd say ) in Sept for about 2 weeks - dropping it off at Las Vegas Airport in Oct.

I tried to do a booking but noted there may be "One way" fees - but these fees are not quantified.

Can anyone advise what costs are likely, and any others I should watch out for >?

Thank you

As long as you are booking with an Irish site then all the fees should be clearly stated - don't use the .com websites of the rental firms as these wont include the mandatory insurances you require.

You can also try this consolidator that might work for you.

I did a dummy booking with Hertz (Ireland) and got a quote of 365 Euros for a 2 week rental (for random Sept/Oct dates) of a full size car with all the mandatory insurances (Loss Damage Waiver & Liability Insurance) and no one way fee - the only extras were Personal Accident Insurance which you probably wont need if you have a decent travel insurance policy, Premium Emergency Roadside Service (unnecessary in my opinion), Fuel which you always pay locally and additional drivers which you might need.

And just to add that any car picked up in San Francisco won't have a charge for additional drivers as this is illegal in California, even if the drivers have different surnames.

Those rentals have unlimited mileage and no restrictions for driving into other states.
