wine trails

we have made most of our plans for our road trip leaving Grand canyon finishing up in SF.

24th October - Grand Canyon

25th October - Barstow

26th October - Santa Barbara or Maria

27th October - Big Sur

28th October - Monterey

29th October -

30th October -

31st October - half moon bay

as you can see, I have 2 spare days. I am wanting to do some wineries along the way so will go inland to do this at some point. from where should we head inland? do I do this before I hit Monterey? have been on google maps and can not work this part out. I have asked lots of questions here and had lots of great answers but just need to sort this last detail out.

we are not booking anything apart from Grand canyon which is already booked. I really want to be in half moon bay for Halloween as I love Halloween. but the days between can be changed to get a good route without back tracking.

thanks again for your help.

Hi

You'll find plenty of wineries near Santa Barbara (Santa Ynez valley) along central coast and in Paso Robles. Already 10 wineries west of Paso Robles off 46 I would not want to stay in Santa Maria.

From Barstow to Victorville and take Pear Blossom hw to Palmdale and drive via Santa Clarita to Ventura and to SB. With visiting the wineries and SB you could stay 2 nights. Then make another overnight stay in Cambria and visit Paso Roble. Next day Big Sur drive to Monterey where you also easily can spend 2 nights.
