Hi All, have been through alot of info here on TA, but am still a little confused and concerned about where we can get hotels during this trip. Itinerary is as follows:
7 Aug - leave Tahoe City 8am, drive to mid Yosemite (we think thats 5 hrs to midway? But we read also it might be longer....), find a room somewhere around there - but do we need to pre-book, or can we just find a functional place with a bed?
8 Aug - leave Yos, drive back to Mono, plan to stay in Mammoth Lakes one night (so we are closer to Vegas), so have time to take this day easy.
9 Aug - drive straight to Vegas, thru Death Valley via Lone Pine, down the 95 (probably 8 hrs?). Stay LV 2 nights.
11 Aug - head off to northern rim GC, via St George - but this is where we confused as to the routes to get into GC for sunset views and somewhere to stay (or should we pre-book?) Would we also have time to see the best canyon views, or we should leave that to the following day?
12 Aug - drive down and stay night in Flagstaff (we dont want a 10 hr trip to LA, and this place seemed the only main city we know we could definitely get a room and bring us closer to LA)
13 Aug - leave Flagstaff to LA Seal Beach
Might be worth noting that we are not into hiking, but like to sit and enjoy stunning scenery and wildlife more than anything.
Would really appreciate some opinions on the Yos part, the drive thru Death Valley (anything to be worried about this time of year?) and especially how best to go from Vegas to GC and around down to Flagstaff - which roads to take without us having to drive 8+ hrs per day, and what options might be good for hotels (anything up to 250 USD per night)?
Thanks in advance :-)
