Olympics 2016 Rio

Greetings! Now that we have thawed out from Sochi, it's on to Rio! Will you create a travel forum for Rio de Janeiro?

In other forums, the advice is to:

-Book accommodations August-Sept 2015

-Work with an apartment complex. There

are 4 people in our party.

What advice do you have on:

-Purchasing tix to the opening ceremonies

-Travel insurance

-Transportation in the city via rail and bus

-Safety?

Thank you!

The men's and women's cycling road races at the 2016 Olympics will start at finish on Rio's Copacabana Beach.

The races originally were set to start and finish in Flamengo Park, but cycling's governing body, the UCI, said Friday they will instead "start and finish at the fort of the iconic Copacabana beach."

The men's race will take place on Aug. 6, 2016, and cover 256.4 kilometers (159.3 miles). The women's race will be held the next day and cover 130.3-kilomets (81 miles).

Mayor Eduardo Paes said today he will ask some of the Rio's biggest companies to shut down during the 2016 Olympics to make transportation easier for athletes and officials.

Paes also said he would reschedule school holidays to make sure fewer cars are on the roads and said he may declare public holidays during the event, which will run next year from August 5th to August 21st.
