Hi Emac;

Again welcome to Family Travel forum,

the best period to do the holidays it's always depends on where are you travelling, because each place has a special time to travel for, sometimes March- April are considered as the best times to Travel outside the Scool Holidays.

Try to repost in a specific forum in case you decide where you go for your vacation.

Happy Travels.

Hi Emac................here in Ontario, Canada the school children have "March Break"..........for 2013 it will be Monday March 11 - Friday March 15 inclusive..............many families use this time period to travel, so it may be one of the time periods you wish to avoid......in addition to March Break, Friday March 29, 2013 is another day the children are off of school - Good Friday, and so this may also be a time that some may use to travel.......hope this helps with your planning........

Hi Emac

Easter holidays and mid term holidays vary across the country. In my experience school holiday times tend to be the most expensive, so if you check with a tour operator, you'll probably find that the cheapest time to go is the time when most schools are still working.

Where are you thinking of going?

Emac

As Scotland, EnglandWales and Northern Ireland all ahve slightly different school holiday dates, suggest you look at this website www.halftermdates.co.uk

Even county councils within the above have different dates, and travel companies use the widest possible date ranges to fix higher prices for holidays.
