Family in NYC for a weekend

We are visiting NYC 3/15/13-3/18/13. Going to stay in Times Square as we have Annie tickets Sat night at Palace theater. Any ideas where to eat before the show? Also, what are the MUST-SEEs with a 7 and 10 year old in NYC? We are thinking Empire State building and Staten Island Ferry. What else? Thanks so much!

For things to do in NY best is to post on the NY forum:

One of the highlights for us was Top of the Rock . We preferred it our visit to Empire State Building.

Hi Stephanie..............as previously suggested, the NYC forum will be of great help to you....there are so many places to eat in NYC, to suggest something without knowing what you want, how much you want to spend, where to eat...difficult....I'm assuming you want near the Palace Theatre...I know it well, so right in heart of Times Square......there is an excellent family style resto called Carmines within walking distance, couple of blocks away at 200 W 44th St...great Italian food served up family - style on platters...it's noisy/busy/lots of fun...get there early or make reservations, tell them you have theatre tickets........the NYC forum will tell you not to eat in Times Square...too touristy they'll say, however they have some decent restaurants in the vicinity and Carmines is one of them.......I would still check in with them too.......NYC is an amazing food city......John's Pizzeria, also close by, housed in an old church makes excellent pizza, and has a decent family menu too.....

After the theatre browse around Times Square.....it's a sight to behold!...........if you feel like a little after-theatre nosh, or dessert go to Junior's for the BEST cheesecake in town (IMO) and other deli faves......it's right in the theatre district, on Broadway at 44th and 7th..........

Perhaps especially if you are traveling with boys, check out the Intrepid Sea, Air and Space museum, which now has a space shuttle.
