Best Family Beach

My family and I are planing a trip to some beach and we have not decided where to go yet. We want to go somewhere with a great beach, but we also want to go some place that has a lot of things to do for people all the way from teenagers all the way up to seniors. If you have any advice, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

St. Petes Beach Florida is a great family destination. We stated at Alden Resorts in St. Petes Beach, FL. Alden is a suite hotel with beach front suites available. It's located on the Gulf of Mexico. Alden has two pools, a deck with grills, a cabana fon the beach for adult beverages, a kids playground, tennis, basketball, arcade, volleyball.

The suites are clean and the staff is friendly. However, the resort does not have an onsite restaurant, but the hotels are lined up one after another which has restaurants and there are numerous restaurants right across the street.

You have everything from dolphin watching, to all water sports, to plenty of shopping. Look up the Alden Resorts and it will give you plent of info

We visit Litchfield Beach, SC every year with our family, youngest is 8 up to grandparents. Litchfield Beach is 20 minutes south of Myrtle Beach, SC. We rent a house, but Litchfield Beach Resort has a wonderful website with varying accomodations. The beach is very clean and not crowded. It is close enough to Myrtle Beach and all the attractions. You could also take a day trip into Charleston, SC.

Try the gulf beaches in Alabama, primarily Gulf Shores and Orange Beach. They have beautiful white sand and lots of lodging options. Condos are popular but you can also rent some affordable houses right on the beach. Hotels are just as pricey as condos so you might at well stay in a condo that has a kitchen and washer and dryer in the unit. There are strips with activities for teens and great outlet shopping for adults, lots of golf. These beaches are very family friendly. There are also a lot of eating options with various price points. Port St.Joe, FL is beautiful but I don't know about activities available.

How about spreading your wings and going to the island of Jersey in Great Britain. The place where the Jersey Cow comes from and the place that gave New Jersey it's name.

A beautiful island, safe, clean and unique...look at www.jersey.com

Normally I'd say Sanibel and Captiva, but they might be a bit quiet for your teens. Most of the avtivities there are very outdoor oriented. But Ft Myers Beach - south end near Lovers Key State Park might be a good compromise. Not as quiet or laid back as Sanibel and Captiva, but not some place that's over run either. In season, be sure to stay near where you can catch the trolly as driving along Estero Blvd is nearly impossible. Lovers Key is a great park and has all kinds of concessions from canore and kayak rental to food. But still, it's quiet and beautiful and out in the bay area, kayaking is excellent. The beaches in the park are especially nice. Best shelling is still on sanibel. But then, I'm partial! ;-)

Cornwall in UK has the best beaches in the world- they are huge, clean , sandy, rock-pools for the kids, watersports for the teens, deckchairs for the seniors, coastal walks, and stunning countryside all around.
