I know there was a thread earlier about the rules in Britain regarding taking kids out of school but my question is more about what you think is an acceptable amount of time to take them out.
In Australia it's quite common to take kids out of school for a week before or after school holidays. A friend of mine took her 5 year old back to Canada for 6 weeks to meet her family.
I am taking the family to California next year. We have a family wedding at the end of the first week of school hols. So the earliest we could leave would be the Sunday in the middle of the holidays. So we could spend the second week away, and it's a long weekend so that gives us 9 days without an issue. I feel OK about taking my daughter out of school for 4 days which would give us 14 days.
My 'ideal' itinerary is 21 days, so my question is do I take her out of school for 9 days or is that too long? I can amend the itinerary and cut some things out. I usually end up doing that anyway to fit in with budget etc..
Just after opinions especially from parents who have young kids in school as I'm not sure exactly what they do in the early years. It's been a few years since I was there myself...
