help planning trip

Me and my husband are planning a trip in June for our anniversary. We are a little overwhelmed with making arrangements. We are looking to stay at a bed n breakfast. We want a Jacuzzi suite and the Max we want to spend would be $220/night. Any recommendations would be great. We have never been here. Not sure which area to stay either.

There's lots of nice places in Door County it can be overwhelming just narrowing it down by interests helps too. Fish Creek and Ephraim are two neat areas which border Peninsula State Park.

http://whitegullinn.com/ Fish Creek, WI I hear a lot about this place particularly the dining with their award winning cherry stuffed french toast and overall charm.

http://ephraiminn.com/ This is right near Wilson's Ice Cream Parlor in Ephraim. I thought it was listed for sale when we were in the area in August. It looked very nice and in a good location. Ephraim is a town oozing with charm and history (dry town though but nearby close towns are not).

You've got many other places/towns to consider such as Sister Bay, Egg Harbor, Bailey's Harbor and more....

There are a lot of BnBs to choose from, but I would consider the Ashbrooke in Egg Harbor. It is not a BnB, but an adults only property that is walking distance to many nice shops and dining in Egg Harbor. The Blacksmith Inn in Baileys Harbor is a very nice BnB and also check out the Lodgings at Pioneer Lane in Ephraim. I have stayed at all these properties as well as the White Gull Inn and give them all high marks.

I agree with the suggestions here. You may want to think about what else you want for the trip. Do you want to be able to walk to near by shops? Then maybe you'd like Fish Creek. It's a pretty busy area but many like that kind of hustle and bustle. We like being in Egg Harbor at Newport Resort as I love to swim and really like the rooms. However, Egg Harbor is further south and many places are about a 10-30 minute drive. But the Door is so neat, that we just ignore the drive and think of it all as our back yard. The Bay side is a bit busier with more shops, the lake side is more natural. Will you want to hike, golf or shop? Or just kick back in the nearby community. How many days are you going? Whatever you decide, it would be hard to go wrong.

Door County in June is a great choice, the location will be beautiful and there will be plenty to do. The nice thing about Door County is that you can still get away and feel very secluded at the same time, ideal for your reason of travel. June will be somewhat more expensive than other times, with early June being the best time to travel as far as rates are concerned.

-Birchwood Lodge (http://birchwoodlodge.com/) in Sister Bay will have romantic suites equipped with jacuzzi whirlpools, fireplaces, king size beds and private balconies. It is conveniently located within walking distance of downtown as well. If you travel before June 10, 2011 it will be $210/night on the weekend and after June 10 it goes up to $250/night (cheaper Sun-Thurs).

-Pine Grove Resort (http://www.pinegrovedoorcounty.com/) will also offer whirlpool suites and the property is very nice. This resort is located on Eagle Harbor, so you would be right on the water. I think jacuzzi rooms will be under $200/night, but the website is somewhat confusing when you get to the reservation stage, so I would call them 800-292-9494 - Reservation Line or 920-854-2321(the direct line may be the better choice). This is in Ephriam, so it will be somewhat more quite in comparison to Fish Creek/Egg Harbor areas.

-The Scandinavian Lodge (http://www.scandlodge.com) will also offer affordable jacuzzi suites for the time of your travels, under $200/night. This resort is also located in Sister Bay.

-Homestead Suites (http://www.homesteadsuites.com) in Fish Creek also offers whirlpool suites withing your price range, under $200/night . This resort will be in a location with more 'hustle and bustle' and will likely offer more things to do.

-The Church Hill Inn in Sister Bay is a BnB that will fit your price range and offer what you are looking for, rates will be under $150/night through June 2011.

-The Chanticleer Gues House (www.chanticleerguesthouse.com/index.html) is just north of Sturgeon Bay... and it is very unique and adults only. It is also the only BnB with an in-ground pool, so if you want to shy away from a resort and opt for the idea of a BnB, but still want some of the amenities it may be a good fit. The rates will meet what you are looking for.

Hope some of these suggestions help. It all depends on what you want, if you would like a resort with privacy then I would look into the Sister Bay options. If you would like to get out and interact with others during the day, Fish Creek might be your best bet. If you really want a private and romantic destination, take a closer look at the guest house in Sturgeon Bay. Good luck!
