Komatiport to the Battlefields

Does anyone have any recommend where to stay between these two places. I understand it is quite a long drive and we would rather find a nice country place to stay en route.

Thanks.

1. Re: Komatiport to the Battlefields

We stayed at Ingudlane lodge for our Battlefields tours, it is just 2 kms outside Dundee, on the Battlefields Route. From Komatipoort it is a 6 hour drive via N11 through Ermelo or via N17 via Piet Retief to Dundee. The lodge was lovely, self cater or catered see link http://www.ingudlane.co.za/ We had 2 nights there and used it as our base for our Battlefields tour. Dundee is home to the Talana Museum which is worth a look for battle history buffs see link .http://www.talana.co.za/

We had organised a private tour guide Dave Sutcliffe to meet us at our lodge and pilot us around to Blood River, Rorke's Drift and Isandlwana for the day. He was excellent and very reasonable and we all agreed our tour would not have been as interesting without him as our guide. Here is his website link if you are interested. amajubaexperience.co.za/battlefieldstours.htm

Another place we considered was Dusk to Dawn B and B although we did not stay there in the end, it was just too far for a day drive from Balule Reserve. From Komatipoort it is about 4 hrs 20 via R38 R33 and N2. It is located off the N2,35 kms sth east of Piet Retief. It is farm guesthouse in a lovely setting see http://www.dusktodawnbedandbreakfast.com/

Where are you staying in Komatipoort? I have some recommendations for there also. Hope this is of use, but as you do not state where your Battlefields focus will be, it may not be.
