Airport Transfers

We are going to Puerto Pollensa in August and have not booked any transfers from the airport. Any suggestions on whether to get a private taxi or try and book a bus/shuttle? We are two adults and two small children.

Taxi from the airport rank will cost 73 euros, as displayed on an official noticeboard in the arrivals section at the airport. The taxi rank at the airport seems well organised.

Other options such as pre-booked private taxi/transfer are available, as is shared shuttle. Bear in mind private taxi will be faster / easier going straight to your accommodation, whereas shared shuttle will involve some waiting time at the airport until shuttle departure and might involve several dropoffs before your own (also they will drop off only at a hotel, if you are staying in an apartment ?).

Here's a link covering more detail and relevant companies

IMO, with 2 adults and 2 small children, luggage in tow, August heat, perhaps tired from very early morning start (?), taxi or private transfer are much much better than shared shuttle, though will cost a bit more.

Thanks KWUK very helpful.

I think the taxi will be the best option as we arrive at 8 o'clock at night and don't want to wait around with the children.

we went to P.P. in June and went with Transunion shuttle service from airport to hotel - we had to wait over an hour for the coach to be full and then lots of drops on the way- v. v. tired at the end of it. we are going back in august and have booked a taxi for €73 - we are going to get the shuttle back to the airport as there will not be such a time delay

we always book a taxi in both directions with a firm in PP, great to hop straight into the taxi and be on your way to the hotel.

We returned yesterday, having booked with resorthoppa.com. Return travel for two was £31.80, which was a full sized coach.

The coach on the journey from the airport was full, and as we were the last couple on we needed to sit apart - though having said that we'd had a very early start to the journey from home, and I was ready to catch up with some Z's anyway! The coach departed the airport around 30 mins after we'd checked in at the desk in the airport foyer. No queue here, and the check-in was easy and smooth. Transit time is around 50 minutes.

The coach only drops at hotels - so if you're in a self catering apartment (as we were) expected to be dropped at the nearest hotel. For us, that meant a walk of about 250m.

Reconfirming for the return journey is easy - you simply type your reservation number into a field on the web site around 24 hours before departure, and your departure time (and for us departure location) is confirmed. This is a lot easier than some other coach transfer companies, where you need to send an e-mail or phone. We know from friends that this can be frustrating - with phone calls and e-mails not being answered (presumably simply due to volume of calls). Most restauants and bars there have free wifi, so if you've a smart phone doing this is easy. Alternatively, there are a few internet cafes down town.

Our return coach arrived 4 minutes early (a lot better than arriving very late!), and after a few other pick-ups in town the coach ended up about half full. Smooth journey to the airport, and we arrived in good time for our flight (about 2 1/2 hours ahead).

If I was returning to Port de Pollensa, I wouldn't hesitate to use resorthoppa again.
