Snorkeling on your own

When we have our own equipment, can we snorkel from beaches without a boat tour? Any suggestions?

You will likely be grateful for wetsuits just about year-round. This link shows where you can snorkel on your own. It's funny, I love to snorkel, but have never done so here in CA. I don't like the cold water!

Yes a wetsuit! Funny Plumeria... I bought a shortie wetsuit from Costco just so I can go snorkel at La Jolla Cove once or twice a year. Worthwhile to me! I usually check water temperatures and go when its near 70.

Hi BarbinSoCal,

Lover's Cove is a popular spot for snorkeling. This area is a marine preserve, and a great place to spot fish!
