Prices in Supermarkets

Having not visited a Nankumatt or Tuskys yet!!!! can someone give me a rough Idea of how much wine is to buy, Tuskers and spirits per bottle please.

Also ladies, ho much do toiletries compare with over here ie. moisturiser, etc

I really must do more shopping than lazing around when there !!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you

Per bottle. Even chateau cardboard is expensive.

We buy the 5 litre box of Drosdy Hof Claret (South African) which works out at around £3.70 a bottle. Its not brilliant but perfectly acceptable for having readily to hand. Boxes are handy for when you just want the one or two glasses. I find its more palatable if I pop an ice cube or two in it, as room temperature here is far higher than the optimum temperature for red wine. If I'm opening a bottle of red I pop it in the fridge for 30 to 40 minutes first.

You can buy bottles of white for less than 600/- a bottle but of course most of it is rough, there is an Italian white that you can get for around 550/- (about £4.25) that is a bit harsh for my taste but tolerable (its sold in restaurants at around 1,600 a bottle). I buy 1 litre tetra packs of Peñasol Spanish white wine at 385/- (about £3) for drinking in spritzers, perfectly acceptable when diluted with sparkling mineral water.

I'll leave it to the ladies to comment on toiletries, other than to say you will see many familiar names, Nivea, Pantene, Sanex, etc

BTW Tuskys don't sell alcohol.

Some superb wines here - Nederburg Duet or Nederburg Edelrood especially. But those are between 900/- and 1500/- per bottle. Some great Italian wines available too - Bardolinos and Barberas - at between 800/- and 1300/- per bottle.

Rose - We like the Bellingham Rose around 900 a bottle. More expensive options are Mad Fish Rose.
