Getting to Balicasag Island

We will be in the Philippines in Feb and are planning a few nights on Balicasag Island. We will be coming from Dumaguete on the OceanJet ferry, which gets into Tagbilaran around 5:30. I was just told by Kolobial travel (who made the arrangements at Balicasag Island Dive Resort) that the boat transfer must leave Alona beach before noon. So, that means we'd have to spend the night in Tag.

Does anyone know if there is an earlier way to get to Tag from Dumaguete, or, maybe we could hire a local boatman to take us from Alona beach to Balicasag?

thanks

You shouldn't have a problem getting a boat over to Balicasag.

By the way, do you mean 5.30pm?

Apparently there's a ferry that leaves Dumaguete at 7.30am, arriving at Tagbilaran at 9.10am, but it's best to check with Ocean Jet to be sure.

Thanks, as of now, Oceanjet canceled the ferry service at 7:30am. So, I had booked the later ferry, but, I was just informed by Kolobial travel, where I booked the reservations for Balicasag Dive resort, that their boat must leave Alona beach by noon (stating it's for passenger safety).

Actually, it'll be best to stay in a hotel at Alona Beach for the night. It's only thirty minutes away from Tagbilaran,

Finding a boat to take you to Balicasag Island will not be an issue if you are at Alona Beach. There are touts going up and down the beach, all day, offering all sorts of boat services such as whale and dolphin watching and diving or snorkelling at locations such as Balicasag

It is about 30 minutes by car from the pier in Tagbilaran to Alona Beach. When you arrive at the pier in Tagbilaran, there will be a whole bunch of drivers waiting to take you away. Tell your driver you need to get to Balicasag, he will probably have a cousin who can take you.
