Hi

Take a look at Bayview Hotel. One of the nicer ones and is in the "banking area" of Kuah Town.

You do realise that there is no beach in Kuah Town. You will have a good 30mins drive to the beach area.

In Pentai Cenang area, you can look for Awana. Good 4 star hotel, very reasonably priced.

Awana is 35 minutes from Kuah approx.

Bayview in Kuah town will be around 60 US dollars per night, minimum, for room with breakfast.-thats outside your stated budget (for November ).

When you read the reports of other hotels in Kuah you will see that a lot of them might not be suitable.

10 nights is a long time to be stuck in a flea-pit !

Do you really have to stay in Kuah or could you stay in Cenang area ?

You would certainly have more choice and,if so, I,m sure you would get some reasonable suggestions.

I live in Kuah and we travel out of town most nights!Cenang = more /better restaurant choice and the odd decent bar .

For 10 days stay, U better stay in Pantai Cenang or PantaiTengah. It is where the fun is, by the seaside and lots of eateries, shops, underwater world and also island hopping.

USD40 will be sufficient for 2 star or 1 star hotels only.

Intend to rent a car and prefer to use Kuah town as my base to travel the whole island. In between or extend for few days , plan to visit Penang and Koh lipe from Langkawi . I suppose Kuah is near to the ferry terminal .

Considering 1. Hotel Asia 2. Citin Hotel 3.Hotel Bahagia.

Any opinion or other suggestion !

Cheers !

Hi

Have you read the reviews for these hotels? Best you do that before committing yourself to anything.

The ferry port is in Kuah Town so you will have no problems getting there.

Hi Mike2go,

If you are using Kuah as base, you might want to check out De Baron Resort. It's very near to Dataran Lang(Eagle Statue), Legenda Park & Pekan Rabu (night market).

Happy hunting!

mike - kuah is really not a suitable base, compared to any other area. driving in the island is easy, and the distances involved are very small. sadly kuah is possibly the least charming oriental town i have ver come across....

if you don't mind being away from the beach, check out pondok keladi and sunset valley. on cenang, casa fina is quite new and very clean. your budget is a little ambitious - if you want clean, relatively bug free rooms with locks on the doors, you are probably looking at around £50 per night.

The three you suggested should be within your budget.Expect fairly basic but clean.Anything else and you may (?will) be bitterly disappointed.

As redboots suggests its not what you could call" a charming Oriental town".

However, some of us townies like to be away from the hustle and bustle of Cenang, and prefer to be in town,so we can shuffle to the shops/superstores n cafes on our zimmerframes. We have a nice park, nice sea views and a big fat bird at Eagle square- its on a stone type pedestal- not the one pretending to be Kate Winslet in Titanic with Leonard De Capricot by the railings( overlooking the sea ).We have McDonalds and a secret recipe restaurant and somebody said we will be getting a mobile Doner kebab thingy soon ..........
