Ok. there is a market in the neighbouring town of Sabanillas (on a Sunday morning), or you can drive down to Algeciras where there is a daily market.

As for food/drink in Duquesa:

Best tapas is El Refugio (In the old town "Castillo") It's very traditionally Spanish and fab!

There's a new restaurant called Oscars (used to be the Straw Donkey) which does a great 3 course lunch for 6,95 Euro. Would thoroughly recommend it!

H2O bar is good for happy hour. Nice staff and English food.

Hi

We are in Duquesa in August and am wondering where exactly is the 'Castillo'? We are staying in the Marina Del Castillo apartments,is this far from the Castillo? Or will it all be obvious when we get there?

Thanks

hi not sure were it is you are staying but duquesa isnt very big the castillo is a spanish fishing village the bar they mention is' ok' but watch the prices as if you are english it tends to increase. There are lots of fish restaurants in the village and more variety in the port. Its also worth it if you have transport to go to Garcia's spanish restaurant in the way to cassares not far about 15mins or Arroyo Honda wich is slightly further both supberb.

I have been in this area for 8yrs so im sure you will have a fab time. Bars to try Pantholon, duquesa bar. c bar all in port.

Hi - the apartments you are staying at are in a great location. They are the newest on the beach front. If you are facing the sea walk right and that will take you to Castillio 2 mins past the basketball court. keep to the right and you will see the Tapas bar just past the church in the square. If you go left out of your complex you will walk into the port no more than 10 min slow stroll. The beach bar here is great for food and drink. eating on the beach is the cheapest way . they are open until midnight in the summer. try them all as they all do slightly different things . If you have a car drive up to the white village about 20 mins I think its called Gucin. Very spanish and lovely authentic spanish bar's. We were last there in 2008 and are going back last two weeks in August, wondering what's changed but hoping nothing !!

When I was there last year there was a big market on Sundays taking the turning off the roundabout behind lidil . There is a market in Estapona Saturdays I think which is 20 mins away. There is also a market in puerto banus near the bull ring Saturdays . There is a big indoor shopping center out let mall past Gibraltar and another shopping mall near Marbella . There are no shops to speak of in the port but a couple of shops to browse in sabinilleas inthe roads behind the prom. We are going in July again , have fun.
