We will arrive Ashdod port on the cruise ship on 22september 2013 (Sun) and the ship leaves the next day at 19:00. I have read much info about traveling from Ashdod cruise terminal to Jerusalem but most of them are old and out dated. Need some help to find out the latest info.
We decided to spent 1 night in Jerusalem and discover the old city on our own.
Like to find out if:
BY TAXI :
GO>>> 1) How long does it take to get there on the Sunday morning and how much will it cost (just a rough idea) from the cruise port to Jerusalem?
RETURN>>2)What is the best time to leave Jerusalem on Monday so that we would not miss the ship which leaves at 19:00? Is it easy to get the taxi from Jerusalem to Ashdod port and how much +/-will it cost?
We want to take a taxi to the central station and catch the bus #438 or #448 to Jerusalem (on platform 2.. Thanks to Oreets!! He has given much info on this subject. Just wonder if still up to date.
GO>>> 1) Should we take the taxi from the cruise terminal ( I read the taxi drivers often hassle and only accept long trip to other city instead of short trip to the bus station Is it correct?) OR
2) At the port's entrance is there any taxis available where the cruise shuttle bus drop us off? ( I read also the port’s entrance is nowhere to sit but the pavement and nowhere to go?)
3) How much is the bus fare one way ? Do we buy the ticket on the bus or at the station in advance? Do they take credit card or cash only?
4) How long does it take for the bus journey on a Sunday morning to go Jerusalem? Do they have air-con on board?
5) Our hotel is located at Agripas 15. Where is the closest stop to get off?
RETURN>>1) What is the best time leave Jerusalem on Monday afternoon and how long does it take?
I know in the end we will take the bus because we like to explore and mix with the locals
culture and people.
By the way is the 22 and 23 September by any chance is holiday in Jerusalem?
Looking forward to Israel and excited to visit Jerusalem!
Thank you for any updated information and advice!!
