Ranthambore National Park

Hi guys,

I've trawled through all the forums and not found an answer, hoping one of the lovely tripadvisor community can offer me some advice...

I'm a nature lover, coming to India in late April, and was hoping to visit Ranthambore National Park. Someone suggested booking through Rajasthan Wildlife website, however there are no tickets available. Question is there anyway to have a guaranteed booking a gypsy, and zone 1-5. I don't want to leaving it til I get there. I'm happy to do it with a good tour company. I am single traveller. Would be travelling from Jaipur - Sawai Madhopur staying the night there and hoping to do a morning (and if possibe, afternoon safari too).

Please help..

Many, many thanks...

Ultruist

Unavailability of safari booking in the website is very common now-a-days. Even I had faced the same thing. However, from my experience, I can suggest you to book the hotel first, then ask them to book safari by Gypsy for you. The hotels are very efficient in safari booking, even in a short notice.

I had been in Ranthambhore, stayed in Ranthambhore Regency. Mr.Ravindra Jain one of the partner of this hotel is very polite and equally efficient. He had helped us in safari booking.

Online Safari booking in Ranthambore Tiger Reserve for April has yet not opened, it might be open in this month but not sure. If you are unable to book safari through online then you can book your safari at the same day of visit on Government jungle Safari booking window or you can get your reservation for safari through your hotel travel desk or travel agent. Ranthambhore safari booking is under controlled by the forest Department. There are limited safari vehicles allowed inside the Tiger reserve by the forest department (Government of India)

There are 10 Safari zone in Ranthambhore Tiger reserve and all zone are best, there are no any bad zone in reserve. Both Canters and Jeeps travel on same tracks. All zones take you to the heart of the park. Different zones are better on different days and this can be ascertained only a day or two before.

Zone no. 01 to 05 is randomly allocated by the Forest department. We cannot choose any specific zone for our safari except zone 06 to 10. If you have booked you safari in advance (90 days before date of visit in zone 1 to 05) then you can take zone as per our choice, but for this change you will have to pay 1000 rs each trip to the department and this system is not apply on festival time.

These days safari counters are opening 90 days in advance, I think. For a hassle free trip, I suggest the following options:

- find a travel agent and book the trip through them

- book the safaris through your lodge in Ranthambhore

Look up Ranthambhore Bagh or Khem Villas or Dev Vilas. All have owners living there and they are very clued in.

I will be staying at the Ranthambore Bagh hotel at the start of April and they have been more than helpful with booking my safaris for me. Whilst I havent stayed at this hotel yet, I could highly recommend the service that I have had so far! They also have packages that you might be interested in.

I will suggest that you should contact some local person from Sawai Madhopur itself, which will be more fruitful for you. There is a person name Shiv Gurjar who is specialist in these bookings. you can contact him. His webpage is http://ranthambhoresafari.com/
