Ranthambore advice on where to stay and good guides

Hi there, I am planning a trip for December to Ranthambore and possibly Bandhavgarh. Can anyone recommend a good place to stay at Ranthambore which provided keen guides. The main purpose of the trip would be to hopefully see tigers so this is very important to us. Also, do you think we should do both parks for approx 4 days each or just do longer at the one? Many thanks

Bandhav Vilas in Bandhavgarh - and Ranthambhore Regency in Rathambhore may be appropriate, both belongs to same group of Hotels .

There are plenty of Hotels in Ranthambhore You may select as per your choice of Hotel

Nahar Garh, Pug mark, Taj Swai Madhopur lodge, Khem Vilas , tigen den vanya Vilas etc.

Thank you everyone. I have been advised that hire of a driver may be worthwhile but costly. Are trains safe and are there easy routes between Ranthambore and Bandhavgarh? Thanks again

HI,

Yes, travelling in car from Ranthambore ( Rajasthan) to Bhandhavgarh ( M P - Central India ) is around 12 - 14 hrs (so long)

If you will take state Highway - 6 then its aprox 650 kms one way

and If you drive from National Highway NH -11B then its aprox 750 kms per way.

Taking train is not a bed idea or either flights will be best.

But easy approach and well connectivity to get there goes from DELHI ( To and Fro)

Access

Your journey to reach - by air

From Jabalpur- a four hour drive

From Khajuraho- a five hour drive

From Umaria Airstrip half an hour drive (only for private air charters)

There are direct flights daily to Jabalpur and Khajuraho from New Delhi, Mumbai and Varanasi.

Your journey to reach - by train

There are daily trains to Katni and Umaria from most major cities

From Katni – a two hour fifteen minute drive

From Umaria- half an hour drive

Your journey to reach - by road

From Jabalpur – a four hour drive From Khajuraho –a five hour drive

From Kanha national park –a five hour drive

Or if you wish the Hotel/lodge can arrange transport as well from above mentioned places.

Thanks

Thank you Maouda that was extremely helpful. I am a bit concerned about safety following a number of reported attacks on females over the last 18 months in India and now the latest news of the two girls raped and hung. Apologies for mentioning this but naturally this will make some potential tourists think again.

Dear Alex,

Thanks for your appreciation.

Your concerned for safety is right, but in general, happening can be happens at anywhere with anyone

We should take strictly care for Do's & Don't s while traveling specially.

Concerning to your visit for Bandhavgarh ask to your lodge/hotel to make pick up arrangements by nearby

place you reach.

For any suggestions/advise you always welcome

Thanks

Hi Alex

December is the coldest month in India and it is not so good time to see the tigers but to see the Tiger is totally depends on luck you can see the Tiger in your first visit or you can't see them in 7 or 8 visits

In Ranthambore there are lot of hotels and every hotel provides the guides on demand but during the safari in the park there are guides with every vehicle provided by the department

Also in Bandhavgarh you will find guide services from the hotel on demand

regards

Shyam
