bus or taxi

Hi 3 of us are going to Porto Azzuro just wondering if it is best to get a taxi or to use public transport. Does anyone have any idea of costs for each. Thanks

No it isn't - it is where you catch the ferry to Gozo at the very northen tip of the island. I think Knowkats gave you that information because in your original question, you did not say where you wanted to travel from.

No need - there are 8 buses an hour from Xemxija to Cirkewwa on routes 41, 42, 221 and 222 and they all pick up at the bus stop near your hotel.

Travel by the X1 bus. It is €2.50 per person single and the bus stops within 50 yards of the Porto Azzuro Hotel. As you go around St Paul's Bay, at the head of the bay is a small car park with a fruit and veg stall based in a truck and the bus stop for the Porto Azzuro is about 30 yuards beyond the car park. If you intend to use the bus for your travels around Malta, then pay €12.50 each when you board the bus at the airport and the ticket will give you a week's unlimited bus travel around the island. I stayed in a flat near to the Porto Azzuro last year and the bus stop is so convenient for the hotel, it is a shame, and almost a waste of money, to use any other mode of travel but the bus.

Westlondoner - are you absolutely certain that the X1 airport express bus officially stops at that particular bus stop ? The publicity on the Arriva website suggests that it only stops at the next bus stop further up the hill towards Mellieha. However, their publicity has been known to be icorrect so I am willing to be poved wrong !

The weekly ticket costs €12.00 by the way, not €12.50

Normally the drivers are very co-operative and the stop up the hill is nowhere the hotel, so a polite request is normally acceded to.

The bus does stop on the main road 2 mins from the hotel, we have used this, a hire car & Taxi have been here many times, there are advantages to all, depends on what you plan on doing on your holiday & how much exploring you will do.

From inside the hotel they advertise Airport from €22, but there are deals to be had with the local firms when you get to kow them, but expect to pay €20 eacy way for a Taxi.

Marsa don't be surprised for that price return that your so called taxi will actually be a shuttle van dropping and picking up ppl along the way..you maybe lucky and no one else to pick or drop off but just be prepared. Lots of previous discussions re Travel Republic & other re ppl not getting what they thought they had booked.
