Looking for rustic beach hut/bungalow in a quiet & safe area

I may be traveling alone, so am looking for a safe, clean, quiet beach bungalow for under $50 per night. Any leads?

Thanks again. I will keep reading & posting on a few other forums. Do you know where you be staying yet in Chiang Mai?

In Phuket: beaches, massages, island tour/James Bond,Phang Nga Bay. Yes, Phuket looks very touristy... But there is a reason for that, I'm sure. I would love to visit it at least once before it gets more popular. I don't think it will be too crazy since June is not the busy time of year in Thailand.

From all the pictures that I've looked at, I think Phangan looks awesome, tranquil & unspoiled.

We will be staying at SK House 2, their website wasn't working so I booked through Agoda.com, it has a pool which is a must as we have kids, but it's very reasonably priced.

It would be hard for Phuket to get more popular, it's pretty much at saturation point, although I'm sure they'll squeeze some more hotels somewhere. I think it's popular for reasons other than the things you are looking for. Have a look at Kata Beach or any place other than Patong Beach.
