How do you price Taxi & Tuk Tuk?

Just wondering how much the following trips in a taxi would cost?

Ferry (Taling Ngam) > Conrad

Conrad > Lamai Night Market

Conrad > Beach Republic Hotel

Beach Republic > Chaweng Area

Beach Republic > Intercontinental Hotel

Intercontinental Hotel > Ferry (Taling Ngam)

Also wondering if traveling from hotel would they give estimate on costs and how accurate would their estimate be? Thanks.

hi

theres very few fixed prices on samui with taxis [tuks tuks are rare on samui] taxis don't use their meters

you have to bargain with them

once they know your at the conrad the starting price will go up accordingly

an example conrad to lamai maybe 500 to 800 baht [one way]

late at night price goes up

so you will just need lots of bargaining and patience

if you can afford to stay at the conrad then the taxi prices maybe wont bother you anyway

cheers

Got the Conrad stay (2 nights) for free for signing up with Hilton Visa credit card offer (signup bonus)...using points for Intercontinental...just paying cash for Beach Republic :-) . Nice to know that it is so expensive (maybe try hailing one outside.

Given the remote location of the Conrad, your bargaining power is quite limited and you will need to rely on what the hotel can organize for you (taxi, shuttle bus).

Prices for taxis vary a lot on Samui and late at night on a less busy road you could be asked to pay THB 400 or more even for a short trip of 1-2 km.You may indeed be better off renting a car, if you don't plan to stay at the Conrad

Sorry but you are in for a Nasty Surprise.

The most expensive place for Taxi's in Thailand.

Definitely rent a Car and just drive with caution as people on the road are very dangerous.

Agree on looking at option of renting a car from a local company.

I've used Ch Tours many times in the past and they are very easy to deal with. A rental gives you freedom to explore the island at your own pace and times that suit you.

Dave, you are not allowed to self promote on TA.

Samui taxi drivers refusing to use meters and charging inflated flat rates only sends more and more people to the car hire companies.
