I would be grateful for a knowledgeable comment on the swimmer-friendliness of Koggala beach in the end of March.
I consider going there, but am hesitant due to conflicting safety information in various reviews. Koggala seems a picturesque beach, but few online photos actually show someone swimming in these waters... Perhaps a candidate for rip currents, given its open sea location close to deep waters. But seasons also seem important. Is it at all safe to swim there, and what are the known hazards? currents? sharks? jelly fish? Anything else? Any life guards on duty?
We enjoy the sea and can swim, but will not take any risks. If staying in Koggala is it advisable to go to Unawatuna? Why in such case and what is the time/cost for that?
Many thanks in advance for finding the time to comment.
