Hi there,

It's off-season on that coast. Still there is ONE diving company, in Beruwela, who does scuba (morning dives) all year round; they shuttle you so a safe atoll-like site further in the sea where at least in the mornings the currents are bearable.

Simple swimming can be done year-round at a few places on the south coast where there are coral reefs shielding the bays - e.g. Unawatuna (close to Galle) and a bay not far from Matara.

At your service,

Hi, We are also going to Neptune but in August and are also really keen to scuba dive. Please could you tell us the name of this one company and how to find them?

Thanks ever so!!!

Hi,

Polhena near matara is a tranquil location to have a safe sea bath throughout the year & also see some corals as well.

Hi again,

The centre I meant seems to be Ypsylon at Beruwela. However googling did not deliver their own site, you'll have to manage with their phone/e-mail mentioned on general diving directories...

Have fun,

You won't find a lot of coral on the west coast.....even Hikkaduwa's Coral Gardens are a relict of days past...but diving is still quite good if coral is not your only option. Trinco is the place for coral and the season is now on: Pigeon Island, Elephant island, Swami rock, Chappel rocks..or snorkeling off sweat bay or marble bay.

Yes, BUT you might have memories of nice bygone days. For the last 12 months Trinco (including Nilaveli) is totally offlimits for tourists due to mortars, claymore mines and other things of 'another dimension' of the lovely Lanka.

Sorry,
