What are prices like?

We are a couple in our 40's & have never been to Greece. Thinking of going to Rhodes & in particular Haraki looks like our sort of place.

Can anyone advise on prices - meals out, drinks (wine / beer in bars/restaurants / supermarket), bus trips, sunbeds etc so we can estimate what we'll need?

Any other tips on Haraki hat may be useful?

Thanks

What in particular draws you to Haraki?

If you post your wants/interests etc you might find you'll get more relevant hints and tips.

Hard to say on prices really as everything is different, obviously a quick spag bol and a diet coke in a restaurant will be a completely different price to a full Greek meze in a traditional taverna, but in general most people tend to find they're spending around €15-20 each for a starter, main dish, bread and a drink or two.

Bar prices vary between €2.50-3 for a local beer or glass of house wine, through to up to €5-7 for a top branded spirit with various points in between depending on your usual drink, but in the case of spirits there's no optic measures like a UK pub so you're generally getting a good double for your money, with many places doing deal like 2-4-1 on spirits and cocktails during happy hour.

''Haraki looks our sort of place''..have a look at the thread Amstel Scale on the Haraki forum AuntyCat. Have you ruled out Lindos? Bit more going on but better bus connections for trips too if that's important to you..and Ideal for your age group generally

Thanks for your replys.

i will have a lookat the Amstel scale post, didn't realise it was about prices in general.

We did consider other areas but fancy the small size & laid back style that Haraki sems to be. We don't want much to do, just hought it may be nice to hop on a local bus to Lindos or Rhodes Town.

Had a busy few months & just want to chill in the sunshine.

Lindos is hardly a metropolis only ever passed through Haralki from Lindos to airport and not impressed to be honest..it has it's devotees but can't help thinking Lindos will be a better introduction to 'Greece' unless you really want to veg out without options unless you hire a car

Hey

Yr not able to 'hop on a bus' to Lindos/Rhodes Town, at will. There is a very limited bus connection to Haraki, approx only twice a day. The only alternative is a 2km walk to the main coastal road to catch the regular cost road bus service to Lindos/RT.

It is a little isolated in that respect, although it has some lovely sea front restaurants/bars n Agathi Beach (imo the best beach on the island followed by Glystra Beach) is an easy 20 min walk.

I manage to veg out in Lindos without a problem...Haraki is sleepy, isolated and not very pretty from the road but has it's fans Just a bit 'worried' that you're used to Benidorm although anywhere on Rhodes will be a big contrast..even Faliraki!

I went to Haraki 8 years ago when I was late 30's. It is a tiny resort with a lovely pebble beach with perfect water. The place is perfect if you want to lay on the beach all day, grab a wine at lunch, meal in the evening. It does attract quite a following from older holiday makers who seem to go there year in year out and I dont blame them if you just want to do nothing all week.

People there are really friendly. We got a bus to Rhodes Town for the day and also went to Lindos for an evening via taxi.

If you want to chill 100%, book this up now! We even left our bags on the beach it was so safe and also at night it had a really good friendly vibe.

Went in September, weather great.
