Taxi/ transport

Going to Santo for the first time early January with 2 children. How do I go about hiring a taxi? Are there rental cars available? Are there people who would rent bicycles?

There are plenty of taxis running around and you only have to hail them. Car rentals available and we always use Espiritu Rentals which is located at the Espiritu Motel. Haven't seen bicycles. Scooters available at Deco Stop.

Bluey, We head over to Santo for the first time in November, can you remember what the utes are worth for a days hire and how much petrol is. I am trying to weigh up either hiring a driver and car for a couple of days or just hiring a ute and self drive.

Would anyone know of a reliable driver with a dual cab ute or mini bus, there is 8 in our group.

Thanks Steely

Hi Steely,

A driver we found to be good is Kenneth Lav of Santo Island Tours. To contact him phone him on 7742151 or send a fax to (678) 36749. This goes to Hotel Santo but this is the number on his card.

Hope this helps,

Jen

4x4 dual cabs would set you back approx 9000vt/day and fuel over the 200vt/lt. Don't be in a rush to prebook as you may get lower rates on the day and even some accommodation places have their own vehicles or deals which can work out cheaper. Same with drivers. We have used a couple of tour operators in the past but now just do the hire car or cab but there is usually only the 2 of us.
