Old Phuket Hotel

Anyone stayed here? Is it walking distance to restaurants/bars etc and is the beach nice in this area? Can you swim in the sea in this area? Travelling April.

Thanks

Helen

We haven't stayed there but close by. The Old Phuket is right next to a street full of restaurants and shops. You can also walk along the beach rd (more restaurants and shops) to the main area with heaps of retail going on. You will be fine there.

Also usually in April you can swim in the sea. From May onwards the conditions change and it becomes very rough for swimming. This is when the red flags are placed along the beaches.

The Old Phuket is a great hotel in Karon with a good choice of rooms and a good selection at breakfast. Many restaurants and massage places just outside the hotel heading towards the beach and there is a market when you turn right onto the beach road. Walk 5-10 minutes further and you reach Karon circle at the start of Patak rd. Many more restaurants, shops and bars in this general area. The beach is generally good in April, but as previously said, from May onwards can become quite rough
