Renaissance Phuket Resort and Spa, Mai Khao

One bedroom suite: are there doors between the bedroom and living area which can be closed to make two areas? Or are the bedroom and living area effectively one large open plan area? Thanks.

I'm right here now...

Bedroom and living area is just a small open area.

Area is enough for King sized bed, an extra bed and sofa set (2+1) with table.

There is a sliding door between the bath and the living cum bedroom, entrance cum wardrobe and living/bedroom and lastly living/bedroom and the pool.

Are there any restaurants and massage places, shops, markets etc outside of the resort? What is the street life like?

Renaissance has 3 in house restaurants and a lovely spa. If you would like cheap massages, there was a hut along the beach not far to the left of the sand beach restaurant, although I am not sure it is still there post Phuket clean up by the government.

There is a touristy Turtle Village that one can get to via hotel shuttle. Turtle Village is kinda like the only shopping area catered to tourists within the whole estate that holds Marriott, Sala, Anantara, Renaissance.

This place is absolutely far removed from any kind of night life or markets. If you are looking for a bit of everything you are better off at Laguna, which is a huge estate of many resorts but is closer to the sort of thing you mentioned above.

There are some 'one man' restaurants/bars in the vicinity with the freshest seafood you can get. There are simple message places; neareast just at the border of Renaissance property on the beach. There are a few others along the beach. Seem to charge 400-500 THB per hour. There's a very small village/shopping center with a couple of 'real' restaurants just next to JW, convenient if you take the free shuttle. There is no street life, the place is out of all hustle and bustle.
