Hurricane cancellation Insurance

Some advice please. Hope to be at the EPM in July. Now we are hearing more about anticipation for higher incidence of hurricanes. What types of hurricane insurance protection can others recommend. Thanks

Not sure exactly what package to suggest, but we chose our package through insuremytrip.com. Very helpful with live chat service. Told the associate what we were looking for and they told us what we needed.

We booked through Expedia and purchased insurance at that time. Most of the companies online ask you if you want insurance prior to completing the purchase. I would contact the place you booked through to see what they offer.

read the fine print carefully. Many times "acts of God" are not covered.

I agree with Tingy, many of the insurance packages do not cover weather cancellations so read the fine print before you buy one!

Wanted to give one more shout out for insuremytrip.com. Actually read about them in USA Today. They sell packages from a bunch of major insurance agencies and have great service to help you pick the right one. Ours has full coverage for weather as long as the airline has cancelled flights for like at least 12hrs or something.

If the airline has cancelled flights, then it's quite likely that the airlines will compensate you - either by booking you on another flight or refunding your money. Check the fine print on you ticket - its is a legal contract and if the airline can't fulfill their obligations, they can't just keep your dough.

Llisa-- didn't realize that. Good to know! We actually got the insurance because with this not-so-stellar economy, my husband's company is doing restructuring... we're hopeful his job will be safe, but we won't know until the end of August, so figured it was worth it to be covered--and our package covers that.
