beach??

I'm looking for a beach or somewhere to swim near Venice. I've read where Excelsior hotel will let you use their beach. I feel weird doing that if I'm not stay there. I'm staying at Al Ponte Mocenigo. Thanks for your help.

It doesn't matter where your hotel is in Venice itself, the nearest beach is still Venice Lido. There are public beaches there, not just the Exelsior's - but it is perfectly common in Italy for companies (including nearby hotels) to operate private concessions on specific areas of the beach, with facilities such as sun-beds and beach umbrellas that anyone can rent: there is no need to feel "weird" about using these. They are known as "'stabilimenti balneari" or "bagni" (which translates literally as "baths", although "bathing establishment" is better) e.g. Bagni d'Alberoni (http://bagnialberoni.com/indexEN.html) and these: http://www.sabvenezialido.com/
