playa potrero for a month with kids

Hi, our family is looking to get away to costa rica for a month and be near the ocean. We are considering portrero because the beaches are beautiful and can walk to public transportation. We also want to take Spanish classes and understand there are classes offered in Flamingo. Are there other activities within public transportation that we could take advantage of? Or will we be stuck in the jungle with nothing to do? Also what about the dustiness from the road?

You can get just about anywhere on public transportation, but it's not like being in a big city where you just walk out and catch the next bus every 10 minutes. You need to be aware of the schedules.

You're not stuck in the jungle, because you're nowhere near the jungle. There is a lot to do around there, however.

The dustiness of the road depends on when you are thinking of going. if you're going to be there when it rains, then dust is not an issue. If you're there during the dry season, it's very, very dusty. So dusty that I avoid it. It might be OK if you're far enough away from the main roads, but it is a concern.

You can avoid dust by staying closer to Brasilito. Same public transportation, excellent beaches a paved main road.

Thank for the reply! We are planning to travel in July/August, so I believe that is the rainy season. Glad to hear that there is a lot to do, and we have found a place to stay already. Not sure how close it is to the road, but I think we will manage since it looks like such a beautiful place. Thanks again,

Flamingo is really nice, Potrero is like a bay, so no waves, nice , great view at night and during the day also,

plan some trips around, like Rincon de la Vieja Volcano and Palo Verde

Normally the first couple of weeks in July have very little rain. Even through most of August, you will just get short showers during the day. No constant rain, but enough to keep the dust down.
