Lapland - Log Cabin - New Years Eve

Hi All. We want to go to Lapland in a log cabin and have fireworks on New Years Eve. Trying to decide between Luosto and Jevis (winter cottages) with Activities Abroad. Would like to do cross country skiing, huskie stuff, snowmobile. Any advice more than welcome. Just two adults so no real need to meet Santa this time. Thanks Jc

Ive been in Yllas, Akalompolo on new years eve and it was great. We ate in Jullis restaurant and then walked out onto the frozen lake for fireworks. At midnight we walked back to our cabin where all the people around were in the street watching the northern lights, Green swirling lights in a band around the night sky. Breathtaking.

activities abroad can give you all the trips etc that you want as part of their package cant they?

as for fireworks - yep, there will be lots on new years eve, all over the place and people letting them off in the streets - not the safest of activities :)

Thank you for your help. We had got the impression that Yllas was a little bit too busy when we actually fancied a smaller place ie. Jeris or Luosto but in choosing either of these maybe we would not get the New Years Eve celebrations or even a bar we could walk to. (Clearly we want to have our cake a eat it!) I am sure what ever we decide Lapland will be wonderful. We have celebrate New Year in almost every Scandinavian country, Iceland, USA, UK and we are rarely disappointed.

Thanks again JC

i spent new year in yllas a few years ago - it was busy and there were fireworks going off everywhere - I am sure though, wherever you choose there will be celebrations
