Best village to stay on the wirral

Would love some advice on the best villages to stay on the wirral. Am going for a weekend in summer, would like to stay somewhere with some nice shops, bars and restaurants, and maybe somewhere for a cup of tea.

west kirby would be my choice... a small town with plenty to do...great restaurants... coffee/tea rooms and a few small independant shops.... the place has a lovely feel to it..great walks nearby including around the sailing lake on the waterfront or a walk along the prom... having wales in view as the background ..beach is nice, and a walk out to hilbre island is what many people do, ( approx 2 miles out to sea across the beach on the front) tides permitting of course..the local train station is right in the centre and offers a chance to visit maybe hoylake 5 mins away or new brighton 25 mins liverpool 30mins have fun

www.21parkroad.com is a nice b&b in west kirby 2 minute walk to the action...... aubergine.. and sweet pea are a couple of nice cafe tea rooms .....the wro and wro lounge are good for a drink and food ..a little pricey tho..

Thanks for the new West Kirby suggestions and recommendations. I've had a couple of busy weekends recently, but am looking forward to making a visit to the area soon, to follow up all the helpful suggestions. Thanks again.

Hoylake now has a holiday inn express and is nice town to walk around with lots of cafes, the beach is there too, you can get anywhere on thewirral very easily. New Brighton has been redeveloped, loads of new restauants and a Premier Inn. Enjoy your stay!

west kirby without a doubt is your best bet, lots of nice shops, coastline and parks and plenty of nice cafes/restaurants, would recommend cha bar, scogs and amici as good spots to eat and there are lots of charity and knick nack/crafty shops which I love!
