Periwinkle Cottage

Just wanted to post a warning to potential holidaymakers looking for a tranquil residence by the sea! This place is not for you. Curtain twitching busy body ruined our family holiday. Made us feel very uncomfortable and stormed through back garden unannounced, stay clear of this place, other nicer cottages nearby without crazy lady attached!

Just read these posts re Periwinkle Cottage and want to add my two pennorth! My family stayed there a couple of years ago and absolutely loved it. The couple next door were absolutely charming, couldnt do enough for us and even showed us round their house! I strongly urge anyone considering renting the cottage not to be put off by anything you've read. The cottage is lovely, Winterton itself is a charming village and the beach is stunning. We will definitely return at some point and recommend it to anyone.

Lovely cottage, lovely area. Shame about the rules regarding dogs. This is advertised as dog friendly but that cannot really be said. We went for a family holiday with two young children..... We were looking forward to visiting local attractions but due to the rule of not being allowed to leave your dogs in the cottage unattended we were unable to fully enjoy the holiday as someone always had to stay with the dog. I would go back to the area but would look for a more dog friendly place to stay.

As has been said, take some of the comments above with a pinch of salt. The place is excellent and perfect for dogs with dunes and the beach right on your doorstep. It is perfectly dog-friendly, only an idiot would contemplate leaving a dog unattended in unfamiliar surroundings all day.

We really enjoyed it.

Very nice and comfortable and very well presented.

Visited with friends. The cottage is`lovely and had plenty of room for the eight of us,

Having three toilets was good, the kitchen had everything you could want.

Winterton is a great spot the people are so friendly and beach is a few miniutes stroll away the Dunes Cafe is worth a visit.

The pub accross the road was excellent very friendly with good food.

Went to the greyhound racing on Saturday which was a blast, had a table in the restaurant overlooking the finishing line.

Jean next door was sooo helpful all in all a perfect place for a relaxing holiday. Will be back. HL

Just returned home from a lovely week at this beautiful cottage. Beach a 10 minute walk away perfect for adults, childen and dogs to enjoy. Lovely village has pub, chippy local shops , fabulous fresh fish shop Dabs N Crabs, on the road to Scratby. Lady next door friendly but not intrusive, she dealt with the bins, got them out for collection on the appropriate day. Thank you Jean you are a star.
