Large family vacation to Acadia region

My parents will be celebrating their 50th anniversary in August 2009, and want to have a family trip to Maine, particularly the Acadia area. We will be there a week. Any suggestions for a group of at least 15 people as far as lodging? The family tends to like quieter areas and partake of activities like hiking and biking.

Thanks.

Unless you want (and are wiling to pay) for all the amenities that come with a hotel or B&B, you should rent a house or "cottage" as they are often called in Maine. You can all be under one roof and have a weeklong house party.

There are several places to look for large rental houses, LSRobinson.com has a very easy-to-search web site which will let you quicky locate larger properties that can accommodate a group of your size.

August is a very popular month in Maine, and choice weeks at some of these houses get rented way in advance by families who come to the same house year after year, so it's not a bad idea to start looking now.
