Biking in Acadia N P

My wife and I were planning on spending a day biking around Schoodic Peninsula the first week of July. After spending maybe to much time researching our trip I might want to spend a day biking around the "quite side" of the island, Southwest Harbor, Bass Harbor and Seal Cove.

We can bike up to 30 miles a day.

Any thoughts?

Take a look at the Quietside Trail map put out by the chamber of commerce. The map shows the west-side fire roads which are good for cycling. You can also cycle along 102/102A, but not all roads have good shoulders.

The map is online at http://AcadiaChamber.com/reference.html

You can get a paper copy from the chamber office in Southwest Harbor and from many Chamber members.

We visited Schoodic last summer and the biking looked awesome there. We were sad not to have brought our bikes. The scenery is delightful and it's not crowded at all. There's lots of room for everyone. I'm not sure from your post if you intend to cycle in both places or just in Southwest Harbor.

If you've never been to MDI, then you certainly want also to consider the Carriage Roads. You'll find a map of them also on the chamber website's reference page: http://AcadiaChamber.com/reference.html
