I will be driving from portland international airport to acadia national park on 2nd week of september. Is there any attractions/scenic places worth a stop or even a detour?

many thanks

1. Re: attractions/scenic places worth detour?

It depends on the length of your trip. If it is a short trip, then head straight to Bar Harbor through the highway and spend the time in Bar Harbor & Acadia.

If you have more time, then you could take the slower (so called) coastal route - Route 1 making stops in Mid Coast towns like Rockland, Camden, Penobscot Narrows Bridge etc.
