Bryce Canyon Full Moon Stargazing/April Weather

Going to Bryce during full Moon next April staying overnight in the lodge. I am looking forward to stargazing and am wondering how much the full moon will effect the skies. Also, am wondering what type of weather to expect in April--will I need winter clothes???

You will need layers and warm clothes!! In April Bryce can still be cold since it's around 8000 ft of elevation!

Being there during a full moon is awesome! If you get the change to do the full moon Ranger led hike down into the Canyon, take it!! It's free but they only take 30 guests. You have to be in line at the Visitor's Center and be there when they open at 8:00. So worth it though!

The skies will be bright if it's a clear night but when the moon is high and shinning down into the Canyon it is just amazing!!

Enjoy

Definitely check in at the visitor center for the availability of a full moon hike when you arrive. I do not think the new schedule is up yet, and the program seems to be variable.

Layers are a must. Night time temps can get below freezing in April. Also during the day, it can be very cool up on the rim with a breeze blowing. If you do decide to hike below the rim, the temps can warm up considerably if the sun is shining.

Full moon definitely a highlight at Bryce and the ranger tours are excellence. However, full moons and star gazing don't go well together. You will definitely NOT have as good a time star gazing, but the moonlight will definitely make up for it.

Yes, be prepared to layer up.

Have fun.
