Advice needed for quick trip to Zion/Bryce

DH and I will be in Las Vegas at the end of July, and will have an extra 2 nights to see some of Zion and Bryce. Due to a chronic injury we won't be hiking, but want to take in as much scenery as possible by car or short walks. I've been reading all the great advice on TA but have managed to confuse myself, so am hoping to get thoughts and recommendations on our tentative plan below:

Day 1: Drive from Vegas to __________??? Is Springdale convenient enough for access to both Zion and Bryce? We'd prefer to stay two nights at the same place, but could break it up to do one night each if that'd be a lot better. And are there easy things to see on our drive to whichever town is recommended?

Day 2: Scenic drive through Bryce, and maybe sunrise and/or sunset

Day 3: Drive to Zion early AM; take shuttle to see main canyon; need to leave by early afternoon to drive back to Vegas and catch 6:30 PM flight home.

Is this crazy? DH really would like to see both parks since we'll be so close, but is there a better way to accomplish this? Like doing some of Zion on our Day 1 afternoon?

The drive from Zion to Bryce is a couple of hours. My recommendation is to stay one night at each place. Maybe drive to Bryce on night one, and work your way back to Zion, so you're that much closer on the return trip to Vegas.

Bryce has several easy lookout points on the rim of the amphitheater. You can walk as much or little as you would like. Then drive to a different lookout point.

Springdale is practically touching Zion Canyon and there is a town shuttle that connects to the Zion Canyon Shuttle. I'm not sure how long or difficult a short hike constitutes but the River Walk is flat and paved. Weeping Rock and Emerald Pools are another couple of easier hikes. Have fun.

I would head to Bryce first, then spend the night. See sunset, sunrise, and the dark night skies.(or bright moonlit night!)

Then head to Zion. Its two hours and you enter the park via the more spectacular east entrance via the tunnel and switchbacks.

Bryce is a good drive thru park. Head to the end at Rainbow Point, see the viewpoints on the right on the way back.

You gain an hour headin back into NV, which always helps if you need to catch a flight.

Leave early and make the longer drive to Bryce first. Stay one night there and then move on to Zion for the second night.

If weather is a factor, Bryce is the place you want to be when there are good skys. You should do your best to experience sunrise, sunset and the night sky at Bryce. You will view the canyon from the rim. Your limitations will prevent walking into the canyon.

Zion is accessed from within the canyon for the most part. There are several short hikes within the park and views at all the shuttle stops are worthwhile. Consider including the path at the beginning of the Narrows as well.
