Some of you have already given me some great tips for our visit to DV as part of road trip in mid August, with husband and teens. Now I would really appreciate it if you have any thoughts on my last few questions.
Will be coming from Mammoth and staying one night at Furnace Creek. The next day we need to return hire car to Vegas airport for 5pm, so will have another half day. Will leave Mammoth early and were planning to stop briefly at Lone Pine to see Alabama Hills and Mount Whitney, although we could drop this if necessary.
My initial thoughts-
Drive to Furnace Creek, perhaps stopping at Mosaic Canyon or similar on way. Do Badwater road sights-
Pool at FC, unwind a bit if time allows
Sunset at Zabriskie Point
Next day get up early, visit sand dunes and have breakfast at SW. See Devils Cornfield, SaltCreek, Harmony Borax Works.
Head out by way of 20 Mule Team Canyon and Dantes View, to Death Valley Junction and on to Vegas.
Does this seem reasonable?
Two things I had hoped to do but don't think we can fit in- Rhyolite ( I couldn't fit in Bodie on the way here unfortunately) and Ubehebe Crater. Should I just let it go or is there some way I could squeeze either or both in? I know I could leave the park via Rhyolite but don't want to miss Dantes View.
Would be very grateful for comments or suggestions. Have planned everything based on what I have read on TA- so invaluable, esp for first timers!
