Did you look under Top Questions, above right ?? several hikes listed there.

Utilize the Park's web site; specifically look under 'Day Hiking' as well as " Ranger Programs" and you'll find info on hikes and the free sled dog demo.

http://www.nps.gov/dena/siteindex.htm

Look thru the park's summer newsletter. nps.gov/dena/…alpenglow_vg2013_web.pdf

You might want to consider the Eielson shuttle instead of the Tundra Tour ... goes further into the park, reaches a nice destination (Eielson Visitor Center), and is 1/3 the cost.

Have a nice trip!

From other posts it looks like you will be there in early June. Are you on a Princess cruisetour? I strongly suggest you cancel the Tundra Wilderness Tour, get a credit (over $100) and book a shuttle bus at least to Eielson on your own. Not only does it cost about 1/3 of the tour price, it goes further and it also allows you to get off the bus if you want.

How are you arriving in Denali? If by train, don't go right to the hotel. Stay in the park and use the time wisely vs. commuting back and forth between the park and the lodge.

Thank you for your help on mosquito repellants, and over nightting in store parking lots, turn outs, and back roads! You've helped so much!

Change from the tour to the shuttles. Save about $100 per adult ticket. Buy all your food and drinks for the day on the shuttle.

See the children's corner at the Murie Center, try out the computers, see the wolf skeleton, and see the movie.

Drive yourselves to the Dog Team Demonstrations. Stay to get a photo on the back of the sled. Talk with rangers there and see the dogs. Take great photos as the dogs are trained to jump up on their houses.

Spend time in the bookstore.

Take a hike...really!

Watch the train come in and see planes take off at noon.

Drive the first part, 14.8 miles yourself. Visit the cabin. Turnaround at Savage. Look for "the mountain."

Attend a ranger's talk.

Be sure to see both levels of the Visitors' Center. Open drawers.

Collect the Park stamps.

That's a starter for you.
