There will be a group of three families (6 adults and 8 kids 10 to 1) visiting GNP in mid to late August.

We moms are driving up with the kids and picking the guys up at the airport several days later.

We are looking for cheap accommodations as we are all on a tight budget. We'd love rustic cabins as well as camping, too.

I've been looking all over the net....so far just in the park itself.

I've also been looking just at the West side of the park, but have heard the East side is amazing as well.

I'm stuck....any ideas you can offer would be marvelous!

Thank you!!!!!!!!

What airport are your guys arriving at? If it's FCA (Kalispell) then consider finding less expensive accomodation in Columbia Falls, such as the Super 8. Motels and hotels in the Park are expensive. You will find more reasonable prices in Kalispell, about a 25-30 minute drive to the West Entrance of Glacier Park, but nice and close to Flathead Lake for swimming, and more activities.

You might also consider renting a vacation home. Try vrbo.com (Vacation Rental By Owner). Yours is a huge group to find suitable accomodations for, but the prospect of having a house for a home base might be just the right thing for your group, giving a bit of stability and not the motel feel, plus the convenience of a kitchen to make life easier for that many kids.

Good luck in finding just the right thing. Sounds like a fun trip, providing you all bring your sense of humour and optimistic outlook!

there are a set of cabins in Apgar, though August is high season. If you can double up a bit then this could be a good option. Google St. Mary's Montana and there is a set of cabins about 3 miles outside of the town towards Babb. Again, with some creative accomodations you might make it work out. August is tough to get any bargains, otherwise the super 8 just outside Columia Falls is not a bad idea.
