The days will be warm, in the 80's maybe. The nights cool down. But then again, you may find snow. We were there at the end of August one year and GTTSR was closed for part of the day due to snow at the pass. The next day was sunny and it was gone. There was still snow at the passes on the some of the trails though. Bring clothes you can layer and don't forget the raingear.

typically, 80 to 90 degrees with cool nights. Potential for afternoon thunderstorms. However, as noted before, snow can come. I've been snowed on in the back country twice in 15 years of backpacking trips in Glacier. One day, about 4-5 years ago we did a 17 mi. day hike in shorts and tanktops, only to wake up to snow ( 3 inshes)on the tent the next morning.

As hikes & k2kelley have noted, any kind of weather is possible, although the general weather to expect would be high in the 80s (60s and 70s in the higher elevations) with cool nights, in the 30s and 40s typically. Rain and thunderstorms are frequently possible, especially in the afternoon. When we were in the park late July/early August 2008 it was in the 70s and low 80s for highs with lows around 40. It rained most days in the afternoon, but the rain usually fell on the west side of the park and just left the east side cloudy. This is not always the case, however.

Basically, you should just pack for anything, but mostly warm weather clothing is suitable.

All postings are right on target. One more addition: fire season starts in early Aug. due to lightening strikes. Sometimes there is no noticible smoke, other seasons it's tough. Flexibility and the willingness to take things as they come will make your trip more enjoyable. Often you can re-route a day's activities to get out of any smoke. Not a thing you can do about these Mother Nature events, so best be prepared.
